Microsoft Office - Outlook


This month we take a look at five tips and tricks that you can use with Microsoft Outlook.

Tip 1 - Creating items (method 1)

CTRL + N is the main shortcut that users should know in Outlook.

This function will create a new object based on the folder you are in eg mail, calendar, contacts, tasks and journals.

Tip 2 - Outlook today

Outlook today takes a snapshot of your calendar, tasks and messages in a nice and neat format.

Step 1: Select "Personal Folders" at the top of the hierarchy in the Navigation pane.
Step 2: Click on "Customize Outlook Today" on the right side of the pane.
Step 3: Choose your options and select "Save Changes".

Tip 3 - Edit a message

Want to add some additional notes to an email that you have received? Editing the message is the answer.

Step 1: Open the email.
Step 2: Select Actions, Edit Message from the Move group of the Message tab.
Step 3: Make changes and save on exit.

Tip 4 - Resend a message

A fast and easy way to resend an original email to a recipient is via the "Resend this Message" function.

Step 1: Open an email from your Sent Items box.
Step 2: Select Actions, Resend this Message from the Move group of the Message tab.
Step 3: Click send.

Tip 5 - Creating items (method 2)

Double clicking in a blank area of the mail, calendar, contacts, tasks and journal folders will create a new object based on the folder selected.
